Rifflandia 10

  • What: Get your day passes and celebrate one last outdoor summer party. Rifflandia is a celebration of local music, Victoria’s awesome music community, and the great local venues and beer available to us.
  • When: Thursday through Sunday.
  • Where: Various venues
  • Cost: Single night passes start at $40. Single park passes start at $60.

Thrifty Foods 40th Birthday Celebration

  • What:  Thrifty Foods is continuing the party and celebrating their 40th year. Each Thrifty Foods location will have free cake, coffee and surprises. Tune in to Victoria Buzz LIVE on Facebook and be a part of our online and in-store giveaways.
  • When: Saturday, September 16th. 10am – 5pm.
  • Where: All locations
  • Where will we be:  Broadmead Thrifty Foods from 10am – 11:30am, then we will head over to the Hillside Thrifty Foods from 12:30pm – 2pm
  • Cost: Free

Colwood Seaside Festival

  • What: Join the community of Colwood and Parks Canada for a day of fun, family, and food. Live music, horse drawn carriage rides, and a vintage dress up station await the beautiful scenery of Fort Rodd Hill. Kids will be taken care of with crafts, games, and a variety of activities.
  • When: Sunday, September 17th. 10am – 4pm.
  • Where: Fort Rodd Hill
  • Cost: Free

Roller Derby 2017 Season Finale

  • What: Catch the season finale of aggressive, in your face roller derby action. If that’s not enough, cold beer, cider, half-time entertainment, and a 50-50 raffle should do the trick.
  • Where: Archie Browning Arena,  1151 Esquimalt Rd.
  • Cost: $10 per ticket. Kids 10 and under are free.
  • When: Saturday, September 16th.
    • 5:30pm – Rotten Apples vs Candy Crushers
    • 7:30pm – Belles of the Brawl vs The Margarita Villains

High school robotics kick off

  • What: Teams of up to 15 grade 7-12 students will learn to design, build, and program a robot to compete in a game. You can learn about this year’s game challenge and more about FIRST Robotics BC, an organization that encourages the exploration of science and technology.
  • When: Saturday, September 16th. 1:00pm start.
  • Where: University of Victoria: Engineering and Computer science building, Room 123.
  • Cost: Free, but registration is required.

Drive Electric Victoria

  • What: Get a close look at electric vehicles (EV), ask current owners of the pros and cons, and admire their fine craftsmanship. You can take a ride in an EV, and even drive one. Yes – Tesla models will be there.
  • When: Sunday, September 17th. 11am – 3pm.
  • Where: Central Middle School parking lot, 1280 Fort Street.
  • Cost: Free, but registration is required.

Enjoy 40 Victoria attractions for FREE

  • What: Last year, the Victoria Foundation celebrated its 80th anniversary by sharing over two dozen free attractions around the city. This year, they’ve stepped up their game yet again. The Victoria Foundation Community Day will return, this time with 40 free places!
  • When: Saturday, September 16th
  • Where: Multiple venues. Click here for the list
  • Cost: Free

One Day Community Event

  • What: Another great reason to bring the family out before summer runs away. Live music and performances, a Kid Zone full of activities and organized games, and most importantly: food. More specifically: a barbecue.
  • When: Saturday, September 16th, 10:00am – 3:00pm.
  • Where: Topaz Park
  • Cost: Free

[Comedy] God is a Scottish Drag Queen: The Second Coming

  • What: Check out Mike Delamont’s edgy performance that sells out every time it comes to Victoria. He skewers pop culture, plays God, and creates hilarity, all while dressed in a floral suit.
  • When: Saturday, September 16th. 7:30pm.
  • Where: University Center Farquhar Auditorium at UVic.
  • Cost: $32.75. Students/alumni: $22.75.
