Now that the semester has started up full swing again, university and college students everywhere are back to dealing with long nights, caffeine-induced study sessions, and worst of all, tight budgets.
We feel your pain – and so do a lot of businesses in town.
So without further ado – and in no particular order – here’s a list of places in Victoria where you can get great discounts just for being a student! (You’re welcome)
Pizza is a staple for all-nighters everywhere. And the Domino’s student discount code – 53202 – makes it all the more affordable.
Also, every Monday you can get your pizza 50% off if you order online and click on their Monday discount coupon!
2. Pepper’s Foods

#36 in my "Neighbourhood Grocery Stores" series: Pepper's. The store was founded more than 30 years ago by the store's namesake, John Pepper. At the time, the store was called "Shop Easy", but John Davits purchased the store and renamed it Pepper's. The name Pepper's is so much better! His son Cory is the store manager and he's lead the company to win several awards over the years. In 2015, they won the Best in BC Independent Grocer Award and it was recognized as the 3rd best in Canada. Not bad for a small independent family-owned local grocery store in Cadboro Bay, Victoria. #victoria #peppers #grocery #market #vancouverisland #artistic #snapshot
This grocery store is a convenient 10-minute walk from the UVic campus (and 2 minutes from Cadboro Bay Beach), and will give you a 10% discount if you show them your student ID card!
3. Harbour Air
Need to make a trip to the mainland for the weekend? Harbour Air will let you fly standby for a whopping 50% off, with a valid student ID card! Click here for more details.
4. Bulk Barn
Stock up on your favourite snacks! Pop by Bulk Barn on Yates St on Wednesdays and present your student ID for a 10% discount.
These telecom giants know how much you value your wifi! That’s why they both offer high-speed internet at ridiculously low prices just for students – and you don’t even have to sign a contract! (Shaw/Telus)
It’s difficult to see all the beautiful features of the island unless you own your own vehicle. That’s why ZipCar gives students the option to rent a car on an hourly basis for low prices. Check out their website for more information!
7. Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
A membership at the AGGV will make you look and feel more cultured than your peers – and for students with a valid ID, it’s only $25 ($12 if you’re a Fine Arts student). It’s a steal, compared to the regular $55 rate!
8. Float House
Whether you’ve got finals just around the corner, or a giant paper due in a week – stressing out about it never helps. Float House – a floatation therapy and sensory deprivation centre – knows how stressful a student’s life can be, which is why all students get $40 off their first float!
9. Original Joe’s
