Bastion Square could host a permanent community art space

Share

From time to time, Bastion Square can be anything from the venue for an artisan market to the site of spooky spectres, to a habitat for a midnight horde of 20-somethings on their way home from Upstairs Cabaret. But soon, the popular hub of pedestrian activity could also be a place for art.

The Downtown Victoria Business Association is exploring the possibility of re-purposing 28 Bastion Square (the former Maritime Museum) as a cultural centre in the Downtown core.

Community Session Encourages Public to Voice Opinions

As the project is in its infant stages, not many details are currently available. However, there will be an informal open session for the community on Thursday, October 12th from 5 pm – 7 pm at the Irish Times Pub.

“Please take some time to drop in, have a cup of coffee and share your views about the potential you see for this exciting opportunity,” the DVBA wrote in the event description.

The Victoria Maritime Museum moved out of the Bastion Square location in 2014.
