Cruise passengers can expect new fleet of greener buses picking them up at Ogden Point in 2018

Say hello to a greener tomorrow!

In a move to lower emissions and noise pollution, The Wilson’s Group and CVS Tours have joined forces to bring quieter, more eco-friendly buses to the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority’s Ogden Point cruise terminal.

In return for their investment, the joint venture (called Pacific Northwest Transportation Services) has been granted exclusivity in supplying cruise shuttle services to the terminal, and all buses for shore excursion tours.

“This is a great step forward for our city,” stated Victoria Mayor, Lisa Helps. “It’s a creative solution that brings partners together to improve air quality, and I think helps reduce the impact on the local community.”

The preservation of the economic benefits of Victoria’s cruise tourism sector was also one of the main factors taken into consideration by the GVHA, while deciding to implement measures to reduce their carbon footprint.

“We can stipulate that buses have newer engines and lower emissions, and that they have quieter back-up technology. This moves us further toward our goal of consistently improving social, environmental, and fiscal outcomes in our cruise operations,” says Greater Victoria Harbour Authority CEO Ian Robertson.

So if you’re looking to cruise back home in the new year, keep an eye out for this brand new fleet, ready for active duty!
