A GoFundMe page has been set up by colleagues of a 31-year old father and husband who is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Saanich on Wednesday.
31-year-old Khushal Rana suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by an SUV that lost control on Gorge Road West.
Rana, a father of one and husband to a wife pregnant with twins, had just left his son’s 4th birthday party and was walking to work along Gorge Road West around 11:30 a.m. when a Chevy Suburban mounted the sidewalk and struck him.

“Early Wednesday afternoon our dear friend and employee, Rana, was on his way to work after celebrating his son’s 4th birthday when he was tragically struck by a vehicle whilst walking on the sidewalk near Gorge Road West. Rana has been in the hospital with life-threatening injuries battling for his limbs and his life. He is currently in critical condition after having lost one leg, and lots of blood. We are hoping he is strong enough to fight through this battle. In the meantime, he has a wife, a four year old, and unborn twins on the way that are in need of your support + love.
Sizzling Tandoor will be taking care of the living needs of his family until further notice, but in addition, they will require the extra funds to compensate the finacial strain they will be facing during this difficult time. No amount is too little, so please donate whatever you can to help this young family get by in this difficult time in their life.”
According to Times Colonist, Rana recently moved to Victoria from Surrey with his family.
The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old Saanich woman, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No details have been released on what caused the crash.
