West Shore communities can now take advantage of the opioid addiction treatment that was previously only available in downtown Victoria.

The Westshore AVI Health Centre formally opened its doors on Tuesday, October 10th, and will be providing Opiate Substitution Therapy (OST), including methadone and suboxone.

According to CBC, the decision to fund the clinic in Langford was based on data which concluded that about 40% of the people who use OST services hail from the West Shore communities – including Colwood and Sooke.

At the moment, the clinic is only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the schedule is subject to change once it reaches capacity.
