All aboard!
The luxury V2V Vacations Empress ferry offering a grand 3.5 hour ride between Victoria and Vancouver harbours expects to return to the open waters in mid-December.
The vessel, originally launched in May, was taken out of service in mid-August due to mechanical issues with one of the engines.
At the time, the company expected to have the problem solved in four weeks, but it took longer than that.
No promises just yet
The company – Australia’s Riverside Marine – cannot guarantee that all the complications will be resolved by mid-December, but expects to have the vessel back in the waters by then.
Once the Empress is ready, she will be limited to a four-day service – Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays – until daily service resumes on March 1st.
The V2V Empress’ regular ferry schedule is set: it will leave Vancouver at 9 a.m. and arrive in Victoria at 12:30 p.m. It will then set sail from Victoria at 1:30 p.m. and arrive in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour at 5 p.m.
