A leaking tank caused an oil spill in Swan Creek

Share

Remember to keep those above ground oil tanks in check, people!

According to CTV News, the oil spill in Swan Creek, Saanich was reported on Friday.

The clean-up process entailed crews placing containment booms in several spots along the creek.

Locals say they can spot a layer of oil in the water, and the smell of fuel lingers all the way around Columbine Way and Carey Road.

We don’t yet know just how much oil has made its way into the waterways.

The oil tank in question was located on O’Connell Place, and was last filled in September.

The district of Saanich will be negotiating with the homeowners’ insurance company to cover the cost of the clean up.
