Oak Bay Village will light up for its annual Christmas Festival next Sunday

Share

One of Victoria’s most enchanting villages will elevate its charm on Sunday, November 26th, as the 2017 Oak Bay Christmas Festival kicks off.

The celebration will transform the end of Oak Bay Ave into a rich display of Christmas lights, while the streets and sidewalks burst with community spirit, family activities, music, and Christmas crafts.

Let the family fun begin!

Starting at 2:00pm, a variety of craft stations will be positioned around the area, as well as games and activities on the street. A delectable mix of street food will be available, including roasted chestnuts by Ottavio Italian Bakery.

Theatre SKAM will provide cheerful entertainment once again for 2017, bringing classic Christmas tales to life with their Pop Up Theatre.

Mystifying magic as well as festive balloon twisting will be performed by Paul Kilshaw, and a bouncy castle awaits just in case your kids have some extra energy to burn.

Folks are also invited to drop their letters to Santa off in a special North Pole mailbox on the front of the Oak Bay Municipal Hall.

Don’t worry, you can drop your kids’ letters in there too! All letters go directly to the North Pole, arriving with plenty of time before Christmas.

Celebrate Canada 150 with live music!

A Canadian music concert will begin at 3pm showcasing Canadian musicians and singers. Favourites will be performed by Peter Dowse, Danuel Tate, Michael Wilford, Oliver Swain and Daniel Lapp.

Sets will also be by The Getaway Band, featuring Joshua Litton on fiddle, guitar and vocals; Jaimey Hamilton on vocals and guitar; Jen Meier on vocals and guitar and Michael Wilford on drums and percussion.

The Joy of Life Choir will take the stage shortly after, and invite the audience to join them in singing their favourite Christmas songs. Following that, the 12 days of Christmas will be energetically led by MC Bill Murphy-Dyson, followed by a Light Up countdown.

Santa will make his much anticipated entrance immediately after the lights go on, arriving on an Oak Bay firetruck and sticking around to star in your family photos.
