Suspect gets away after attempting to rob woman of her purse in James Bay

Victoria Police are searching for a suspect responsible for three calls for service Wednesday night.

Officers attended the 200-block of Michigan Street after a report of a suspicious person.

The complainant reported that a man was banging on a window of a residence. Officers attended the area and, while speaking with that complainant, got the report of a man with a similar description trying car doors in a parking lot at Simcoe and Menzies Street.

Man Escapes Despite Search Involving K9 Unit

While police were attending to that call, it was reported that the man attempted to steal a purse. Unsuccessful, the man fled the area. Multiple police units as well as a VicPD K9 officer attended but were unable to locate the man. That woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is believed to be an Aboriginal man standing between five feet, ten inches tall and six feet with short dark hair and clean shaven. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a dark grey windbreaker with a light grey hood and light grey pants.
