Share

The year is almost over, which means it’s time to start planning your next holiday getaway!

This winter, take the Victoria Clipper and get off the island for a few days (or weeks) to explore one of the most lively and happening cities the States has to offer.

This thriving Pacific Northwest city is home to some of North America’s finest food, drink, and entertainment establishments – and its close proximity to Victoria is just an added bonus!

From (American) Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve – Seattle has enough amazing holiday festivities to help you end 2017 with a bang.

Here are a few ideas on where you can start:

1. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Happy American Thanksgiving! If you’re in Seattle on November 23rd, you’ll get to be a part of one the most exhilarating Thanksgiving traditions in the U.S.A.: the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Get ready to take your spot among 3.5 million spectators, as you watch giant, colorful floats amble past, featuring large balloons, Santa, his elves, and a host of other characters you won’t want to miss. They’ll be dancing to the show tunes of Broadway performers, while lively marching bands keep the pace.

2. WildLights at Woodland Park Zoo

We can’t think of a more magical way to spend a winter night than to amble through Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo during their Wild Lights display. Each night, from November 24th to January 1st, every part of the zoo will come to life, in a dazzling show of fairy lights. And that’s not all – Woodland Park Zoo is also hosting a variety of holiday themed events. You’ll have a chance to take part in an indoor snowball fight, get your picture taken with Santa, take a ride on the carousel, and much more!

3. Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival

Just outside of Seattle lies the beautiful Bavarian-themed village of Leavenworth. Prepare to be enchanted on this Clipper Vacations day trip across the scenic Cascade mountain range, to join the Leavenworth Lighting Ceremony at duskfall. Over half a million sparkling lights will bring the idyllic little town to life, as you browse the cozy boutiques and restaurants, completing the perfect holiday experience.

4. The Nutcracker

(Pacific Northwest Ballet/pnb.org)

No lover of the performance arts can miss out on this delightful North American holiday tradition. Pacific Northwest Ballet is about to put on one of its most celebrated shows of the year: George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. On November 24th – December 28th, Seattle Centre’s McCaw Hall will come to life with the resounding joy of Tchaikovsky’s cherished score played live by the PNB Orchestra.

5. Winterfest 2017

If you’re looking for some festive, family-friendly, and affordable things to do, head over to the Seattle Centre any time between November 24th and December 31st. For the holiday weeks, the Centre will be transformed into an enchanting enclosure of merriment, featuring an ice skating rink, Saturday ice sculpting, live weekend performances, New Year’s Eve fireworks, and so much more!
