For anyone in the Canadian Twitterverse, it’s been hard not to notice a viral competition sweeping the nation.
After a single tongue-in-cheek tweet (below) gained traction, Justin McElroy, a city politics reporter for CBC Vancouver, created a detailed bracket to determine “Canada’s Most Memorable (English) TV Thing“.
UPDATE: I have created a 64-entry bracket competition for this, which you can vote on here. https://t.co/51DV9qnq65 pic.twitter.com/7cQv1BE5TG

Seventeen days and over 400,000 votes later, the champion has been crowned. Mr. Dressup defeated Kids in the Hall to become Canada’s most memorable TV show.
In a sentimental coincidence, the winning announcement came on what would have been the Ernie Coombs’ – the show’s creator and star – 90th birthday.
It's been decided.
Canada's Most Memorable (English) TV Thing of all time is Mr. Dressup: https://t.co/0L430LjKXL

Rounding out the top four were Heritage Minutes (3rd place) and Degrassi (4th place).
VOTING HAS ENDED FOR #CANADIANTVBRACKET, which means I can reveal ….
That finishing in 3rd place, with 57.7% of the vote over Degrassi, was Heritage Minutes! @HistoricaCanada pic.twitter.com/XmWigftpPY
