Decades old Victoria jewellery store will close its doors for good in December

An iconic family-owned and operated business is saying goodbye to Victoria.

Since 1948, Van Isle Jewellers has made BC’s capital its home. But this December, the Blanshard Street mainstay will close its doors.

The decision to close up shop was made recently, after owner Kenn Munro passed away.

“The owner of the store passed away last week after a brief illness,” Store Manager Cathy Scott told CHEK News.

“He was a good man, a kind employer, and his family, the staff here at the shop, and his loyal customers will miss him greatly.”

Store Struggled Financially

Scott said the decision to close was a tough one. However, in the past few years, Van Isle Jewellers had struggled to make money.

Munro’s hope that the store would find a solution to its financial troubles prompted him to keep the business running.

December 2 is the deadline for claiming and paying for jewellery left for repair.
