On Wednesday, December 20th, the City of Langford announced their intentions to complete a road improvement project on Jacklin Road.

For about four months, starting Monday, February 12th, 2018, Jacklin Road will be closed in both directions between Jenkins Avenue and Division Avenue (the new road inside the Belmont Market site), as the developers of the former Belmont High School property continue their work.

A detour through the new on-site road will be available to other commuters for the duration of the construction.

Infrastructure developments and upgrades

The project is a combination of street improvements required by the City as well as infrastructure developments being made while the road is under construction.

Changes to Jacklin Road

  • New signalized intersection at Terlane Avenue
  • New sidewalks on the east side
  • Maintaining existing bike lanes
  • Additional north and southbound lanes at Jenkins Avenue
  • Improvements in front of the School District #62 office buildings

Changes to Jenkins Avenue

  • New sidewalks on the south side
  • New bike lanes
  • New signalized intersection opposite the TD Canada Trust building at the Westshore Town Centre

New infrastructure

  • Replacement of two existing water mains on Jacklin Road for CRD Integrated Water Services
  • Installation of the remaining sewer on Jacklin Road between Jenkins Avenue and the Galloping Goose Trail, as well as on Terlane Avenue by West Shore Environmental Services

The city will provide more updates in the future, but for now, the work is slated for completion by Summer 2018.
