Fire in James Bay church on Friday night injures three people

Share

A private event at a James Bay church took an ugly turn when a fire broke out at the venue last night.

According to a Times Colonist news report, officers from the Victoria Fire Department responded to a call at the interdenominational Church of Truth on 111 Superior Street at about 8:45 PM on Friday night.

The space was being used for a private event when the fire broke out, injuring three people who then required immediate medical attention.

Battalion chief Gary Birtwistle told TC that the people at the church used a dry-chemical extinguisher to try and control the flames before firefighters arrived.

Victoria Fire Department officers also helped B.C. Ambulance paramedics provide medical attention on site.

There is no information yet on what caused the fire.
