More snow on the horizon for Vancouver Island

Share

Greater Victoria residents enjoyed a rare white Christmas this year – but the snow isn’t done with us yet!

Environment Canada has just issued a weather advisory for Vancouver Island and parts of Metro Vancouver, which basically states that more flurries are on the way.

The alert warns of a frontal system advancing from the Pacific which will cause snowfall tonight and could possibly result in up to 5 cm of snow going into Wednesday.

It’s not likely to last long

Although Wednesday will almost certainly be a day for building snowmen and having snowball fights, the precipitation is expected to switch to rain by Thursday, in classic Victoria form.

The transition from snow during such cold temperatures may result in freezing rain, which would mean treacherous roads and walkways.

So be careful on the streets over the next two days, and stay tuned for updates!
