V2V Vacations relocates its home port to Victoria

Share

V2V Vacations, launched in mid-2017, has made a crucial pivot that should benefit Victoria travelers.

Originally, its home port was in Vancouver. But after feedback from guests, tourism partners, and the local industry, it will now be based in Victoria.

The move was made after assessing the demand for departure times

Their main vessel, the V2V Empress will now be docked overnight in front of the Fairmont Empress and Parliament buildings, near its head office at the Steamship Terminal.

“Not only is it a high-profile berth that commands attention, in reviewing our passenger records we discovered that many of our Victoria guests were requiring an earlier departure to Vancouver than we were offering – while those in Vancouver preferred to spend more time in the city before departing to enjoy BC’s capital,” Vice President of Operations Bryden Smith said in a statement.

The company has also started a recruitment push in Victoria. Roughly 20 crew members will be hired immediately as they prepare to start regular service.

Lower prices for the first 5 days

Winter departure times for V2V Vacations are expected to begin shortly and will be as follows:

  • 9:00am departure from Victoria
  • 1:30pm departure from Vancouver

Once the V2V Empress returns to service, fares during the first 5 days will be $50 each way for any of the three classes of seating.
