Comox Valley RCMP looking for suspects in two failed robberies

After two attempted robberies in Courtenay on Tuesday evening, Comox Valley RCMP are looking for suspects and trying to determine if the events are related.

In both incidents, the suspects struggled with the victims but ended up empty-handed.

Two Attempts in Five Hours

At approximately 6:10 p.m, the first attempt happened at in the 4700-block of Headquarters Road in Courtenay.

A man went into a business demanding money, struggled with the employees, and fled without taking anything.

The suspect is described as a white man standing 5’9″ tall and weighing 170 pounds and was wearing dark clothing, gloves, and a balaclava.

Just after 11 p.m., in a parking lot in the 300-block of Hunt Road in Courtenay, the second attempt occurred.

The suspect approached a person getting into their vehicle and demanded cash.

The victim fended off the man while he tried to access the car and the suspect fled.

He is described as 5’10” tall and weighs around 170 pounds and was wearing a patterned jacket and a balaclava.

RCMP say no one was hurt in either incident but advises people to not put up a fight, and instead call 911 as soon as possible.
