A 67-year-old man from Courtenay has died after being found in distress in a ditch on Wednesday evening.
Comox Valley RCMP Constable Rob Gardner said a passerby found the cyclist in the ditch in the 2000-block of Left Road in Courtenay.
The man was rushed to hospital by BC Ambulance Service, but was pronounced deceased on arrival.
It is still unclear how he ended up in the ditch.
The RCMP’s General Investigation Section is looking into the matter, along with the BC Coroner Service and the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service.
Any witnesses who may have seen the man riding his bike along Left Road on the evening of Jan. 3 is asked to contact Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and cite file number 2018-140.
