Thank goodness for low tide.
The driver of a minivan was sober when he accidentally hit the gas pedal out of turn and mounted a sidewalk, landing his vehicle on top of a pile of sandy logs at Willows Beach in Oak Bay.
The Oak Bay Police department said they received reports about a suspicious vehicle on Sunday evening at the north end of Esplanade.
When officers arrived they found the vehicle on the north end of Esplanade several metres away from the elevated sidewalk and on a pile of logs.
Police issued him a $196 ticket for driving without consideration under the Motor Vehicle Act.
A tow truck was able to move the minivan from the beach back onto the road.
Oak Bay police described the incident on Twitter as an “awkward moment”.
