Gabriola Island RCMP say a jogger has died after being struck by an out-of-control car while running on the road with a group on Wednesday.
The collision occurred at around 8:15 a.m. on Berry Pont Road near the Twin Beaches Mall.
The initial investigation has determined that the vehicle crossed over both lanes before striking the jogger.
Emergency service personnel were quickly on the scene, and the male jogger in his 50s was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and was co-operative with police.
Police say the investigation continues.
