According to a City of Victoria advisory this morning, the Johnson Street Bridge deck span installation that was supposed to keep the bridge closed this weekend has been postponed due to high winds.
The “Dynamic Beast” crane barge will have to wait until Sunday at 7 AM to begin its work. So the bridge will be closed to all drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians on Sunday and Monday, from 7 AM to 5 PM.
Don’t hold your breath…
Although this new timeline is expected to be adhered to, the installation is still subject to changes in weather, since large steel pieces cannot be lifted during high winds.
