Looks like winter sport enthusiasts on the island will have to wait to ski another day.

Mount Washington Alpine Resort has issued an alert this morning, stating that they are closed “due to heavy snowfall and high avalanche danger.”

The resort also issued an advisory stating that people should not be travelling up and down the road either. This won’t be difficult to remember, since the road is now closed for “winter highway maintenance” according to DriveBC.

According to Mount Washington’s website, they’ve received 109 cm of snow over the last 48 hours, with 278 cm at the base of the hill, and are continuing to experience heavy snowfall.
