The Victoria Grizzlies are giving away a brand new car this weekend

It starts with luck and finishes with skill.

The luck portion will be getting selected for the Shoot to Win contest, where fans can donate and enter their name into a ballot box. Once the contestant has been selected, they’ll have to show The Q Centre they have what it takes to win a 2018 Subaru Forester.

It’s all a part of Family Fun Night this Friday, January 26th, as the Victoria Grizzlies take on the Nanaimo Clippers at The Q Centre. Puck drop is 7:00 pm.

In addition to the vehicle, a $2000 chuck a puck prize will be ready to claim, as well as an appearance from The Royal Bay Concert Band.

Video game enthusiasts will also get an opportunity to check out virtual reality with the fine folks at Victoria Virtual Reality.

Family Fun night sounds pretty fun.

Watch a top prospect in the 2019 NHL Draft

Brand new vehicles and $2000 chuck-a-puck aside, there’s a 16-year old forward on the Grizzlies, Alex Newhook, who has been tearing up the league. The 5’11” forward from St. John’s, Newfoundland has put up 56 points (19g, 37a) in just 40 games, placing him 3rd in league scoring, and tops among Grizzlies.

And it appears he might still be improving. Over his last 16 games, Newhook has tallied a red-hot 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points.

Among the top 20 scorers in the league, Newhook is the only one under 18 years old.

According to eliteprospects.com, Newhook is one of 26 players considered “a top prospect” for the 2019 NHL draft. Should his development continue as planned, he very well could see his name called in the first round.

In the last five years, a 16-year-old has never finished in the top-20 in British Columbia Hockey League scoring.
