This morning at approximately 8:30 AM, a mini passenger bus caught fire in downtown Victoria.
Victoria fire crews and police responded to the Wilson’s Transportation bus which was ablaze while making a left onto Fort Street from Blanshard.
People from nearby businesses were evacuated as the fire was being put out, and thankfully there were no major injuries.
The driver of the minibus was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, and was released shortly after.
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but authorities are ruling out anything suspicious.
As of now, traffic is still closed north- and south-ward on Blanshard, but Fort Street has been reopened. Expect delays.
