Mystery solved!
The BC Coroner’s service has identified the person whose leg and foot was found in Jordan River in early December as a missing man in the US.
DNA analysis confirmed the remains belonged to a 79-year-old Washington state man who went missing in September.
Stanley Okumoto from East Bremerton went missing on Sept. 19. His vehicle was found the next day in Clallam County, roughly 240 kilometres away from his home.
Okumoto’s body was found two months later in the same area. His remains were missing the left leg and foot.

On December 7, his lower leg and foot were found inside a black shoe by a man walking his dog.
Foul play was not suspected in Okumoto’s death. The BC Coroner’s Service said the investigation is ongoing.
