Police are looking for missing 44-year-old Victoria man (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Mark Lovett has been located and is safe. His jeep broke down in Jordan River, and he walked back to Sooke overnight, arriving just before 2:30 PM this afternoon.

EARLIER: Oak Bay Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 44-year-old Victoria man, Mark Lovett.

Officers believe he may have gone off-roading to the Shawnigan  Lake area in his Jeep and was last seen in Oak Bay at around 7:45 AM on Monday, February 12th.

Recent reports suggest he may have been around Valentine Rd and East Sooke Rd yesterday around 1 PM. His Jeep is a red 2001 TJ with BC licence EB313K.

Shawnigan Lake RCMP are now involved in the search. They, along with one Oak Bay PD officer will be conducting a search by air via helicopter.

Lovett is described as a 5’9″ man with medium build, short hair and blue eyes.  He is believed to be wearing the clothes shown in the photo below.

“The general area where he is believed to have gone is quite vast and remote and we do not believe he was equipped for overnighting in these cold conditions,” states Oak Bay Deputy Chief, Ray Bernoties.

Officers are very concerned about his well being.
