Victoria police arrest impaired driver involved in early morning collision

This morning, at about 9:17 AM, Victoria police officers responded to reports of a collision, and were able to track down the main perpetrator.

He was a 36-year-old man driving a black Mercedes, and was allegedly impaired and carrying a knife.

The chase ended on Vancouver Street, where Victoria Buzz photographer Jay Wallace was able to capture the above image of police officers apprehending the suspect.

“Officers located the driver and out of an abundance of caution arrested him with weapons drawn,” stated VicPD spokesperson, Cst. Matt Rutherford.

“He was arrested without issue for impaired driving.”

There were no injuries reported during the incident.
