On Monday, March 5th, a student at Stelly’s Secondary School was arrested by Central Saanich Police.
The student was taken into custody after authorities caught wind of a social media post in which a youth can be seen firing a weapon into a target.
The disturbing part was the caption: “practicing for school“.
The student who posted the image was arrested without incident and released on a promise to appear. Central Saanich Police are recommending charges including uttering threats and mischief.

Bayside Middle School incident
Last week, Bayside Middle School in Brentwood was placed on lockdown for several hours after reported sightings of a suspicious person on school grounds with a possible weapon.
As far as we know, no arrests were made in that case.
“The CSPS thoroughly investigates all reports of threats to our schools and our community,” said Central Saanich Police Youth Resource Officer Michelle Joyce.
“We also encourage parents to speak with their children about appropriate use of social media.”
