Impaired driver nearly crashes into fuel truck on Sooke Road

A driver who may have been high on methamphetamine almost caused a devastating crash in Sooke last week.

On March 22nd at 7:49 am Sooke RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver, heading Westbound on Sooke Road.

The vehicle was nearing Connie Road and swerving from one side of the road to the other.

The complainant recorded the suspect’s driving on a dash-mounted video camera and updated police dispatch.

One of the most dangerous moments was a near miss head-on collision with a fuel tanker truck.

Sooke RCMP Found Drugs and Paraphernalia

Sooke RCMP intercepted the vehicle as it entered a construction zone near Harbourview Road.

The driver, who turned out to be the vehicle’s lone occupant, was arrested for Impaired Driving.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle, yielding a quantity of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

A 44-year-old male resident of Victoria is facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving, and possession of a controlled substance.
He has been released on a Promise to Appear in Provincial court in Colwood on June 28th
