The final sprint of the Royals’ 72-game marathon is upon us and Victoria’s home team is celebrating with the people who supported them on Saturday.
The Victoria Royals will host the Everett Silvertips for the final tilt of the season, getting a chance to finish the season strong and send subtle revenge to their Washington enemies, who knocked them out in last year’s playoffs via a 5-overtime thriller.
The first 2000 fans who arrive on Fan Appreciation Night will be treated to a 24″ by 28″ full-size 2017-18 Royals Team poster and 1500 cinch bags will also be distributed courtesy of Wawanesa Insurance.
As usual, numerous prizes are available from Chuck-a-puck, including Mount Washington passes, a $100 gift card to Moxies, and a one night stay at the Villa Eyrie Resort at the summit of the Malahat.
Puck drop is 7:05 pm!
Royals set franchise record for goals in a season
The year of the franchise record continues, as the Royals have lit the goal lamp a record 284 times in the 2017-18 season. The record surpasses their previous mark of 283, set in the 2015-16 season.
It’s no surprise, really. The Royals have boasted the league’s second-best offence for just about the entire season, trailing only the league-leading Moose Jaw Warriors, and have a veteran-laden squad loaded with firepower. Victoria has exploded for 6 goals or more a remarkable 18 times through 70 games this season, once every four games.
Longtime Royals Matthew Phillips, Tyler Soy, and Dante Hannoun have combined for 107 goals (47, 36, and 24 respectively), about 38% of the team’s total offence.
