Over 3500 people are without power, and the intersection of Harriet and Burnside will be closed for a while following a single vehicle accident.
The incident occurred around noon Thursday. A garbage truck turning right onto Burnside road drove over the sidewalk striking the hydro pole and snapping it in half.
Moments following the crash, people in the area were reporting seeing heavy “sparking” coming from the lines. Authorities expect power to be back by 6 PM.
The intersection is closed for safety precautions. Authorities are asking motorists to Please other routes.
