Last night, one of Victoria’s most recognizable fitness centres, VI Fitness Co-Ed and For Women, announced that it has entered into bankruptcy.

The company, which operates eight “ladies only” clubs and three co-ed clubs on the island, was not able to sustain their business model, and will now be closing all their locations immediately.

A Facebook post from the business mentions that they will be posting further details and information in the next few days. The news came as a surprise to hundreds of club members and employees.

The shock was exacerbated by the fact that just hours before the announcement, VI Fitness posted a promotion in partnership with New Balance Victoria, offering members a chance to win a free pair of shoes.

“We sincerely regret the impact our closure will have on our members, employees and business partners, and truly appreciate their support over the years,” reads a statement from the company.

If you are a member of the club and have questions about fees, personal property, or the bankruptcy process, their website encourages you to contact Kevin Koo at (604)-608-6248 or by email at kkoo@bowragroup.com.

Employees with immediate questions are asked to contact Sofie Parker at (604)-608-6246. Otherwise, send your contact information to claims@bowragroup.com.
