Coffee shop on Quadra Street destroyed in car crash (PHOTOS)

Share

Early Monday morning, at about 1 AM, a vehicle crashed into the Nook Coffee & Tea café on the corner of Quadra St and Hillside Ave.

Sources told Victoria Buzz that the accident might have been caused by an impaired driver who was fleeing from the police.

According to the manager of the Nook, Tree Lowrie, the accident caused significant damage to the Quadra Street side of the building which is “no longer standing straight”, and all the windows have either been knocked out or shattered.

The inside of the store is covered in bricks, glass, and debris from the accident. There is no word yet on when the business will be operational again.

“The Nook is a family run cafe – everyone that works there are locals and people that really care about Quadra Village. This incident is unfortunate especially because we’re such a small business, but we’re going to try to move forward as best as we can.”

There are no reports of serious injuries.

Victoria Police have yet to comment on the incident. More to come.
