Saturday, June 9th

Victoria HarbourCats against the Coquitlam Angels

What: Baseball fans, get ready to be starstruck: Kelly Gruber is in Victoria. The Toronto Blue Jays legend will be in attendance for the Victoria HarbourCats games as their honorary coach on Saturday and Sunday.

Goldstream Farmers Market

What: Here, Langford’s inner creativity is released in the form of locally-grown and locally-processed agricultural products and artisan crafts.
The Market supports and promotes a sustainable and vibrant local agricultural industry and artisan community by providing an outlet for the farmers and artists of Langford and West Shore. Local musicians and entertainers provide atmosphere throughout the day and non-profit groups share their community stories.

Esquimalt’s Annual Neighbourhood Party

What: Communities that celebrate together are safer and more enjoyable to live in. Esquimalt Recreation is ready to kick off the summer season with a huge party and we want you to bring your neighbours and have fun! Come out and visit the many booths at this years event. In addition to this, Esquimalt Parks and Recreation will provide a bouncy castle and various community building activities for all ages!

The 5th Annual Seaside Magazine “Taking It To The Street” Road Hockey Charity Event

What: Teams will compete on five playing surfaces. Play in the tournament, watch the action, cheer on your favourite team and participate in the many activities. Throughout the day there will be: a pancake breakfast, superheroes, princesses, mascots, a race car, a race car simulator driving experience, face painting, photo booth, inflatables, balloon artist, a BBQ, a giant cake, massage tent, a celebrity game, raffle, 50/50 and much, much more.

Lunch & Watercolour Workshop: Seabirds

What: Enjoy a light lunch in the Tides at SHOAL Dining Room then spend the afternoon painting “Seabirds” with Richard Wong, a local professional wildlife artist. Richard will take you through his tried and true methods in creating pleasing imagery on Japanese art paper that’s relaxed, fun and fully supported. All levels welcome – beginners are especially encouraged!

SALTS June Day Sails

What: Each year we offer the public a taste of the SALTS tall ship experience on the Pacific Swift and Pacific Grace. Day sail trainees will be welcomed aboard in Victoria’s beautiful Inner Harbour and will set sail under the instruction of our professional crew for several hours of adventure in the Salish Sea.

The James Bay Community Market

What: The James Bay Market is a vibrant community farmers market located at the corner of Menzies and Superior Street in the heart of James Bay. You will still find yourself surrounded by a bounty of fresh local produce and farm goods, beautiful and unique artisan crafts and fresh ready-to-eat foods.

Spring Fair at Mount St. Mary Hospital

What: This event is FREE to enter and features something for everyone! There will be music, kids games, bouncy castle, face painting, imagination station with crafts, bake sale, silent auction, musical entertainment, jewelry table, a sale of resident crafts, raffles, a BBQ, and free cake!

Yard Sale for Victoria Hospice

What: Heirloom Linens is holding a yard sale of gently used or slightly damaged merchandise. 100% of the proceeds will go to Victoria Hospice.
Hot dogs donated by Thrifty Foods and prepared by First Memorial Funeral Services will be for sale.

Greater Victoria Police Departments Multicultural Youth and Police Sports Day

What: Police officers from across Greater Victoria, including VicPD officers and Chief Constable Del Manak, will join youth from across the region in a sports day event. In addition to organized sports, the event features police vehicles, fire trucks and a great chance to have some fun. The event is sponsored by the Greater Victoria Police Diversity Advisory Committee, Esquimalt Parks and Recreation, the Victoria City Police Athletic Association, Country Grocer and the Esquimalt Lions Club.

Sunday, June 10th

Community Carnival at Rudd Park

What: Enjoy an evening filled with face-painting, inflatables & lots of child-oriented carnivals games. The kids will earn tickets to be redeemed at our candy prize table.
The adults can enter to win a wide variety of gift certificates from generous community donors. All are welcome to participate in field games like tug-of-war, sack races, water balloon tosses and MORE! Concession stand with hot dogs, burgers, chips, & ice cream by donation.

Victoria Shamrocks vs Nanaimo Timbermen on Family Night

What: FAMILY NIGHT begins before the game from 4:00pm – 6:00pm on the Beach Volleyball Courts outside The Q Centre for an evening of family filled fun!
Families can get ready to cheer on their Victoria Shamrocks with Shamrock Face Painting! The Q! Van will be there pump up the Shamrocks Nation with some pre-game tunes!

What: A weekly summer event, located in front of the Juan de Fuca Library. A market filled with local Artisans, Local Farms, Food Trucks, treats, musicians, kids activities and more!

Coast Salish Wool Weaving Workshop

What: Join acclaimed weavers Chief Janice George and Willard ‘Buddy’ Joseph for an in-depth course on the cultural significance and traditional methods of Salish wool weaving. Working with individual looms, participants will learn the twill and the twine techniques of Salish wool weaving and create a unique wall hanging to take home. This workshop is organized in conjunction with our newest exhibit, The Time of Things and will take place in the exhibition.

World Oceans Day 

What: Bring the family to Fisherman’s Wharf to learn all about the Salish Sea. Talk to a wide variety of research, education and conservation organizations, learn about your own impact, and find out what you can do get involved, reduce plastic pollution and #KeepOceansBlue. There will be plenty of activities for all ages!

Vancouver Island Comic Con

What: The 2nd Annual Van Isle Con showcases over 80 exhibitors and attractions including an Artists Alley, comics and collectables, games, virtual reality, food trucks, a zombie shooting range, a Cosplay Contest, panels and special guests like Black Panthers Janeshia Adams-Ginyard and Disney Studio’s Chris Williams.

Story Story Lie at The Mint
