RCMP searching for Nanaimo man who went on a robbery spree

Nanaimo RCMP are looking for a suspect who is accused of robbing three different gas stations in one night.

The first robbery occurred at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19th, at the Chevron gas bar located at 222 Terminal Ave. A man entered the premises and demanded money from the clerk, who handed it over right away.

The second robbery took place at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20th at the Shell gas station located at 199 Nicol St. The same suspect was caught on video surveillance taking cash from the clerk and then leaving.

The third robbery happened at 3 a.m. on Wednesday June 20th, at the 7-11 located at 477 Terminal Ave. Again, the suspect took cash and promptly left the scene.

According to RCMP, the suspect took only cash and nothing else. No weapons were produced during any of the robberies, and there were no injuries.

Officers attended each crime scene immediately after the thefts took place but were unable to locate and apprehend the suspect.

The same individual is accused of stealing tools from the yard of a home in the 1400 block of Waddington Ave at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th.

The homeowner told officers that the suspect was driving a dark coloured Volkswagen and was accompanied by a woman, who both proceeded to steal tools from her yard. The resident of the house was able to take some photos of both individuals and their vehicle.

The suspect accused of the three robberies and tool theft is described as a white man, about 45-55 years old, and has a bushy moustache. In the video surveillance during the robberies, he was wearing a dark baseball cap, white t-shirt, glasses, and cut off jeans.
