RCMP searching for suspect accused of sexual assault in Duncan

RCMP officers are searching for a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Duncan.

On Wednesday, June 6th, the woman reported that she was walking along a trail near the Trans-Canada Highway between Chaster Road and Boys Road when she was pulled into the woods and sexually assaulted.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are now looking for the suspect who is described as a Caucasian man in his mid-30’s, standing 5’7″-5’8″ tall, and weighing approximately 200 lbs.

He has short dark brown hair, a dark brown goatee, and an athletic build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black cargo shorts, a white t-shirt and black sunglasses.

In addition to the search, officers are also reminding Islanders to take the following precautions while out walking:

  • Do not wear your headphones
  • Do not walk alone or in dark areas
  • Travel in well-lit and populated areas
  • Report any suspicious activity to your local police immediately
