If you think you’re having a bad day, just be thankful you aren’t this seagull.

The bird was spotted trapped and hanging from the roof of a business on the 900 block of Gordon Street at around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Luckily for the gull, Victoria Animal Control Services were called, and thanks to the help of one of the local businesses, an employee was able to access the rooftop and set the bird free. Apparently, it had been caught up in a wire.

Garry McHavy, the animal control employee on scene, said he was just doing his job.

“It was happy and healthy and flew away,” he said.

Thanks to animal control’s heroic efforts, this seagull will live to fly (or steal a fry) another day!
