It’s the Canada Day weekend and that means the city will be full of events and fireworks.

Below are 14 events taking place around Greater Victoria this long weekend.

Saturday, June 30

Laketown Rock 2018

  • What: Back for the second time after putting on a highly successful show last year, Laketown Rock is a rising favourite among classic rock fans of all ages. From classic bands to newer alternative rock, there’s something for everyone here.

TD Victoria International Jazz Fest

  • What: The TD Victoria International JazzFest is a ten-day music festival featuring the jazz, blues and world music of local, Canadian, and internationally acclaimed musicians.

Saturday night fireworks at Butchart Gardens

What: Want to see fireworks but prefer to skip the downtown crowd? Head to the Butchart Gardens and check out the jaw-dropping, dazzling fireworks show that features both aerial and ground displays, beautifully choreographed to show tunes.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 10:15 p.m.

Sidney Fireworks Extravaganza

What: Sidney’s fireworks show will be a culmination of Canada Day celebration that begins at 5 p.m., and will include food trucks, cultural performances, music, and a formal opening ceremony.

Victoria HarbourCats Fireworks

What: Take in a Victoria Harbourcats vs. Kelowna Falcons game, followed by an amazing 20-minute fireworks display from the outfield at Royal Athletic Park. Game time is 6:35 pm. Fireworks will follow right after the game.

Rally Against Family Separation 

What: The Victoria Chapter of Women’s March Canada is organizing a Rally Against Family
Separation​. Their goal is to raise awareness, to provide informative experience -, fact – and solution – based direct actions, as laid out by experts working on immigration, refugee, and Indigenous justice issues around the world, across Canada, and in BC, and to show solidarity with the detained immigrants and refugees and separated families at the Canada – U.S. and U.S. – Mexican borders, and around the globe.

Canada Day in downtown Victoria

What: This year’s celebrations may not be as grandiose as last year, but it’ll still be well worth a trip for you to head downtown on Canada Day (Sunday, July 1st).

Victoria’s ‘living flag’ on Canada Day

What: This Canada Day, unleash your inner patriot by being a part of Victoria’s living Canada flag.

Sunday Pizza Nights at Merridale

What: Merridale’s popular Sunday Pizza Nights return with a fresh lineup of local live entertainment! Join them on the back deck for delicious, house-made brick oven pizzas from their orchard cookhouse.
