It looks like a downtown pipeline protest wasn’t the only thing keeping Victoria police busy on Thursday night.

Two people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after Victoria officers responded to three separate yet unrelated collisions within 45 minutes of each other.

Motorcycle collision sends one to hospital

Officers were first called to the intersection of Cook and Pandora Streets at 6:17 p.m. following reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle.

The motorcyclist was found suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to hospital by paramedics.

It was soon revealed that the motorcyclist was driving contrary to his restrictions as a newly-licensed motorcyclist by not having a supervisor with him.

Impaired driver hit and run

Just after 6:45 p.m., patrol officers were called to the 900-block of Mason Street for a report of a hit and run.

Reports said a driver had struck a parked vehicle, exited his vehicle, and then walked away from the scene while showing clear signs of impairment.

The driver of the vehicle was located nearby and taken into custody. He was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and tickets for several motor vehicle infractions, and his vehicle was towed.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

Cyclist sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Six minutes later, at 6:51 p.m., traffic officers were called to the intersection of Scott and Haultain Streets for a report of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist. The cyclist was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries by paramedics when officers arrived.

Officers learned through speaking with the cyclist and the driver that that the vehicle had proceeded through a stop sign despite the cyclist having the right of way.

The driver also said that his vehicle appeared to have a brake malfunction. His vehicle was towed as a result, and he was issued a ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
