A BC Transit bus appears to be smoking on Fort Street.
According to witness Tree Lowrie, a BC Transit bus #6 slowed down traffic at the intersection of Quadra and Fort Streets as it billowed smoke and leaked liquid onto the road.
According to BC Transit spokesperson Jonathon Dyck, there was some oil burning on that particular bus, caused entirely by unexpected mechanical issues. No open flames were noted, and the company is looking into the cause of the issue.
“We did, as a precaution, evacuate the bus as per protocol,” says Dyck.
“No injuries were reported and another bus has been put into service in its place. We’d like to apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and thank them for their patience.”
