Malahat overnight paving work is starting tonight and will take two months

Share

Late-night travellers are asked to use caution while driving over the Malahat this summer as overnight paving begins tonight between Aspen Road and Shawnigan Lake Road.

The paving work is part of the ongoing Malahat safety improvement project, which includes expanding five kilometres of the highway to four lanes, and installing three kilometres of median barrier.

Work will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday, for approximately two months. One northbound lane and one southbound lane will remain open.

There will be regular lane reconfigurations as paving work progresses, so drivers are reminded to use caution and obey the posted speed limit of 60 km/h.

Drivers should also expect delays of up to 20 minutes through the site during construction.
