Share

The main beach at Thetis Lake Regional Park was shut down by West Shore RCMP, as of approximately 11 a.m. this morning

Online reports confirm that the closure is related to the search for missing 48-year-old woman Debra Evans-Hayes, and an underwater recovery team is on site.

Evans-Hayes went missing on Wednesday, June 27th, and searches have been conducted around Thetis Lake Regional Park since then.

The public will be alerted once the beach is reopened.

UPDATE: A body has been recovered from Thetis Lake.

West Shore RCMP has confirmed that the body belongs to Debra Evans-Hayes, the 48-year-old View Royal woman who went missing last week.

Foul play is not suspected in this case, and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroner’s service.
