Ladysmith RCMP are investigating a two-vehicle collision on the TCH at the Davis Rd intersection this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to the location at about 6:20 a.m. on Monday morning after a north-bound semi truck collided with a small car which was turning onto the highway from Davis Rd.

Two people from the car were determined to be critically injured, and were rushed to Nanaimo Airport from where they will be transported to a hospital via air ambulance.

According to a press release from Ladysmith RCMP, the driver of the semi-truck had attempted to avoid the collision by veering away, but his vehicle turned sideways after crashing into the car. The driver had minor injuries as a result.

Both north- and south-bound traffic on the TCH are being detoured via Davis Rd in Ladysmith, as of the time of publication.
