Westview, a four-storey building containing 73 affordable rental homes, is being constructed in Saanich.
The project intends to create affordable homes for seniors, adults with disabilities, and
families.
The building will contain 38 one-bedroom apartments, 20 two-bedroom apartments, 11 studio apartments, and four three-bedroom apartments.
Monthly rent for the units will roughly range between $550 to $1,950. However, 16 of these units will be rented at the provincial shelter rate of $375 per month.
The 2018 budget for affordable housing is launching at over 7 billion dollars over 10 years, the most significant investment on the issue in B.C. history.
The building site, located at 3816 Carey Rd., has been fully excavated, and the foundation will be poured in the coming weeks. The estimated completion date is early 2020.
