Oak Bay resident attacked by a herd of deer

Share

Oak Bay police have issued an advisory after a woman was reportedly attacked by a herd of deer.

According to a press release, the Oak Bay resident went out to investigate a commotion in her backyard in the area of Foul Bay Rd and Crescent Rd on Monday.

She found several deer including a young fawn, and went to open the gate to let them out. That’s when things went south.

Presumably thinking that the woman posed a threat to the fawn, the adult deer knocked the woman over and stomped on her multiple times.

Police are reminding people that wild animals can often become aggressive if they perceive a threat to their young ones.

The best way to avoid being injured by wildlife is to stay a safe distance away from them.
