Four residents have lost their homes as a result of a multiple structure fire in View Royal late Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to Middle Road on the Songhees Reserve located near Admirals and Craigflower Roads at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday night.

View Royal Fire Chief Paul Hurst told Victoria Buzz that two trailers have sustained significant fire damage and have been rendered uninhabitable as a result of last night’s fire.

A vehicle parked in the driveway was also destroyed.

A total of four people residing in the two trailers were able to evacuate their homes before fire crews arrived. Several people said they saw them jumping out of their windows to get to safety.

The now displaced residents will be looked after by emergency social service teams.

It took 39 firefighters from View Royal, Colwood, and Esquimalt to battle the flames.

According to Chief Hurst, officers are on site this morning to investigate the cause of the fire. Unconfirmed reports suggest that it was deliberately started.

“Quick action by crews on the ground prevented the spread of fire to adjoining trailers,” said Chief Hurst. “We’re fortunate there were no injuries or loss of life last night.”
