Voting polls for the 2018 municipal elections closed at 8:00 p.m. today, and now, the results for Vancouver Island’s Central Saanich are in.
Incumbent mayor Ryan Windsor ran unopposed for this year’s municipal election and has already been acclaimed. The race for the six councillor positions was still heated, however, as nine candidates ran for the six seats.
The roughly 17,000 residents of Central Saanich will be represented by:

- Ryan Windsor (unopposed, declared elected by acclamation)
Councillors
- Chris Graham (incumbent) – 3,052
- Carl Jensen (incumbent) – 2,939
- Zeb King (incumbent) – 3,306
- Gord Newton – 2,855
- Niall Paltiel (incumbent) – 3,697
- Bob Thompson (incumbent) – 2,976
The Central Saanich community is located North of Victoria, just North of Elk Lake and south of North Saanich.
According to the 2016 Canada census, the largest age bracket residing in the municipality is the 15-64-year-old group comprising 61.3% of the population.
