The polls are closed, however Metchosin already knew who its mayor would be for the next four years: Mayor John Ranns ran unopposed and was therefore acclaimed.

Ranns was first elected to council in 1987, and will now be serving his seventh term as mayor of Metchosin. However there were eight candidates running for four council positions.

The official results for the District of Metchosin came in shortly after midnight and was the last community in Greater Victoria to report.

Here are the results:

The other four candidates falling short of a council seat are Brian Domney with 717 votes, Jenny Millar with 514, Norm Hardy with 477, and Darren Brown with 419.

One council seat was needing to be filled after Metchosin councillor, Moralea Milne, 68, was killed in a fatal T-bone collision that occurred at a Surrey intersection in late July

Moralea was first elected to the District of Metchosin in 2008. During her tenure she served on many important committees and Boards including, Finance and Administration Committee Chair, Finance and Environment Committee Chair, Environmental Advisory Committee, West Shore Parks and Recreation Society Board Member, CRD Regional Housing Trust Fund, Greater Victoria Public Library Board among others.
