The polls are closed: Incumbent mayor Maja Tait has been re-elected for a second term in the 2018 civic elections.

Tait has 10 years of experience in local governance (six as a Sooke Councillor and four as Mayor).

Her re-election platform rests on seeking more access to physicians and health services, improving local roads and infrastructure, growing the emergency service system, building affordable housing, daycare and support for seniors, and expanding green spaces.

Since 2014, Tait has focused her efforts on improving emergency care services, transportation infrastructure, town centre beautification, lobbying for the municipalities own hospital, and more.

She beat out mayoral candidates Kevin Pearson (incumbent Sooke councillor) and Michael (Mick) Rhodes. Tait received 2,299, votes Pearson got 1,623, and Rhodes received 135 votes.

Here are the 6 Sooke councillors:

A total of 4,078 votes were cast in Sooke, out of 9,862 eligible voters in the municipality.
